White Swan hotel, Guangzhou part 1

We stayed at the famous White Swan Hotel, a hotel in which I stayed in 1993. Nancy at Axis LTD in Hong Kong knew the marketing manager so we managed to get a good rate and we were even greeted by the manager!

Here you can see the hotel. This was the first top of the line hotel in Guangzhou. It is now owned by the army, the PLA. You certainly notice that it is a Chinese hotel if you read some of the fun stipulations they have. How about the notice of a tax based on foreigners ? Or, another one telling you that you have to maintain the socialist market economy ? What is that ? If you know, fill in this form!

In the lobby they have a waterfall, according to some guide book it is the only indoor waterfall in a hotel. I don't think so, though.

At night the hotel is decorated for the handover event. In China it is not called handover, it is called reunion. Click here to see an even larger view of the hotel!

Here is our room. Nothing is missing; the TV has CNN.
