Imperial Hotel, Hong Kong

In order to get accomodation in Hong Kong for the handover you had to book it well in advance. Well, that was at least what I thought when I asked my travel agent to arrange for a reservation. So I booked the Imperial which appeared to have good location in the center of Kowloon with all facilities.

For the HK$ 2700/night they charged us we got:

Since the staff were extremely friendly I shouldn't complain much, afterall handover only happens once in a life time and there certainly a lot of people who wanted to be here for the event.

The view from the room was very good, although not clear (you can see the Penisula here to the right, if you look further on you will also see the Hyatt).

But...

The rooms were quite small. We had requested a king bed, instead we got two small beds, large enough for a young chinese girl. Even for me, who's 5'5" (168 cm) I had to sleep with my feet outside the bed. It was extremly noisy (OK, you ask for it by staying by Nathan road), the aircondition was too cold and the toilet did only accept to flash in 30 minute intervals.

But it can be worse, check out the Chung King mansions were Lennart stayed!
