Hong Kong before handover, barhopping and Temple

OK, we keep on our barhopping. Now we are at the German pub in Lan Kwai Fon.

Martin and Roger having a flatliner. Mia, who is a nurse did not like the term flatliner at all (when the life-keeping equipment tells that someone is dead). The drink was two kinds of different hard liquors, with pepper in the middle making it look like a flat line. If you know more mail to flatliner@askero.se.

Gambei! Judy and the others doing a real bottoms up.

We met some other tourists who had never seen a digital camera and wanted their photos taken. I'll hope they can find our place! (I think they are: Nick, Stuart, Jo and Kathy)

Roger and Martin having the last piece of their flatliner. Fortunately we did not get a flat line after it. But I felt quite bad in my stomach the day after...

Done. Shall I flirt with the girl next to me ?

Nathan road at night..

Mia with Ali in the hotel room. We stayed at the Ramada hotel Kowloon, which really had nice service and was a very good hotel. Not like the US Ramadas I have been to. I can really recommend this place. The only drawback is that it is on the Kowloon side a little bit too far from the MTR station or the Star Ferries for my taste. But maybe I'm too lazy...

Mia and Ali making some plans...

Headed for Stanley Market

On the second day we decided to go for the famous Stanley market on the northern side of Hong Kong island. We took express bus number 6X from the Star ferry terminal. The bus services on Hong Kong are excellent!

This is the special handover stadium.

Stanley market. Here the main gadget was Hong Kong handover T-shirts.

Some of the skyscrapers at Repulse bay. This one even had a water fountain in the parking garage. I guess I do not want to know the rent for that place...

The Tin Hau temple at Stanley beach

While at Stanley we wanted to see a temple.

Look at the extra large incense they are burning on the temple to give it the right smell (?) and to satisfy the gods.

Inside the temple.

The temple was located in the middle of a construction site. I have never seen a church or a temple being located in such an environment. Of course, this is just temporary, but it felt quite strange.

Look at all the mud...

On our way back we passed many of the so typical Hong Kong sky scrapers.

Shopping at the South coast plaza shopping mall at Admiralty. This is one of the most exclusive malls in the world of which I know.

The view from our hotel down to the road. We stayed at the 16:th floor, we can look down at the more poor buildings. Look how all the spots of the roof is used!

Another angle.
