Aneka Hotel, Kalibukbuk, Bali 1997

This is our hotel in Kalibukbuk. My friend Bo Mattsson at Swedbank had recommended me to go to this place. He told me that it was very genuine and nice in comparisment with rest of Bali. Well, Bosse, I like your advice, Kalibukbuk was a very nice place. But, certainly not untouched by tourists. After having dealt with a bunch of sales guys we decided to stay at the luxury resort here, Aneka hotel Kalibukbuk. The place is nice but has a very boring atmosphere. Just outside it there are numerous sales children trying to sell you anything. I tried to sell my digital camera to them, but they didn't take my offer of 10 000 USD. Why ?

Here are the different rooms. The original rate was $75 USD + 21% tax. We got the rate $50 USD/villa ($40 for a budget hotel room). Without further negotiation the breakfast and service charge/tax was included. As a value/$ this was a very good deal. But for a romantic hotel with great atmosphere, check out our place in Amed instead!

We have bungalow 109...

Me and Mia having lunch. Remember to order the meals really spicy. I asked mine to be hot, it was comparable mild. Mia got a carbonara which was just like in Sweden so that you couldn't make more spicy.

The interior of a room. Pretty good by Indonesian standards! Television has CNN, MTV, one Indonesian channel and a really poor Australian one.

Poor Ali has not been scratched on his stomach for a day. So Mia did what she could to please him. Midsummer day, Swedish time...

Just outside you found a lot of colorful dressed people. I thought they were working for the hotel, but never saw them there again. I don't know.

The Lovina Beach, just outside the hotel.

Here's an interesting symbol they had just by the pool...

Small comment on the hotel

The hotel provided excellent service and good value for money. Nethertheless they made one irritating mistake: They promised Balinese dancing in the evening which made us have dinner at her restaurant for the second evening. Later it turns out to be no dance there... They did apologize for this and we did get the dolphin tour free of charge (or did they simply forget the bill ?), so we shall not complain, it was an excellent experience. Go and visit this place! We even helped them with making a TV promo for the place.

Sunset in Lovina isn't to bad after all...
